Overview

What is Iganze Muhinzi Mworozi?

Iganze Muhinzi Mworozi is part of the Commercialization and De-Risking for Agricultural Transformation (CDAT) project, a USD 300 million initiative implemented by the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Board and BRD from April 2022 to April 2027.

BRD manages the USD 15 million Scaling Up Agriculture Finance credit line, available directly to BRD investment clients and through participating banks, microfinance institutions and SACCOs.

Financial terms

  1. Maximum lending is FRW 540 million; this limit does not apply to participating financial institutions.

  2. The interest rate is blended: 90% of the loan at 8% and 10% at the financial institution's market rate.

  3. The tenor is up to 10 years, with a possible grace period of up to three years.

  4. Eligible borrowers can access a partial credit guarantee.

Inputs, land preparation, labour, mechanisation and irrigation across eligible crop value chains.

Post-harvest

Handling, sorting, drying, conditioning, storage facilities and harvest equipment.

Livestock

Dairy, piggery, poultry, animal housing and feed, fishing and aquaculture.

Eligibility

Beneficiaries and criteria

  1. Farmers, farmer cooperatives and commercial farmers.

  2. Micro, small and medium agri-enterprises with annual turnover of FRW 3 billion or below.

  3. Businesses registered through RDB or the Rwanda Cooperative Agency.

  4. Projects seeking eligible investment or working-capital finance in an agriculture value chain.

Business enterprise application requirements

  1. A request letter and a five-year business plan.

  2. Registration and legal documents, recent financial reports and one year of bank statements.

  3. Tax clearance, insurance, asset valuation and environmental assessment documents where applicable.

  4. Requirements vary by project and BRD may request additional information following appraisal.
